Is Judaism a continuation of the cult of Aten?
When the Hebrews were in Egypt they were called Hyksos by the Egyptians. Historically, King Akenhaten was the last Pharoah to be part Hebrew, and part Egyptian. After that the Hyksos were expelled from Egypt by the Priests of Amun Ra. Akenhaten believed that Aten alone should be given worship and devotion and all the other names of Netjer forgotten. The Priests of Amun Ra found this cult so threatening that they expelled the Hyksos from Egypt after Akenhaten's death, destroyed the cult of Aten, and destroyed any information on how Aten was originally worshipped.
