Are tires sold at discount stores the same as tires sold at pricey stores if they have the same name?

I got a postcard from a pricey car store claiming that manufacturers sell different tires under the same name. I bought Goodrich Radial Long Trails from Sam's Club and now I need a new set. Are are different quality tires sold under the same style name?
